Z-News Multimedia Post - Wordpress Plugin

FTP Option

1 - Unzip the zip file you have downloaded. Copy the folder called "z-news" into the Wordpress folder called /wp-content/plugins/
2 - Inside the Wordpress administration click on Plugins > Installed Plugins.You see that the plugin has been installed. Just click on Activate. A new menu appears on the side called Z-News.


Upload Option

1 - Unzip the zip file you have downloaded. You will see another zip file called z-news_install.zip.
2 - Inside the Wordpress administration click on Plugins > Add New > Upload. Click on Choose File, select the file z-news_install.zip and then click on Install Now. After select Plugins > Installed Plugins, find the Z-News plugin installed and click on Activate. A new menu appears on the side called Znews.

You can use Z-News in 2 ways. Using the Wordpress posts and categories default, or use the custom type "znews" and "znews_categories".

NOTE : If you use the default Wordpress posts and categories, skip the first and second step.


1 - After installing the plugin, on the side menu was created a panel menu called Znews. Click on Znews > Zategories and create a new category. For example: Sport

2 - Now let's add some news for the category created. Click on Znews > Add New. Enter a title and choose the category Sport (panel on the right side), which we created in step 1. In the content editor add some text. Within the editor of Wordpress you can add other medias like Photo, Video, Audio.

3 - Znews Options.
These are individual options for each post / new. These options are available within each post, regardless if you are using a default Wordpress post or custom post type "zews" (step 1 and step 2).

If you are using a default WordPress "post", then select from the menu lateral Posts > Add New. And to add categories select: Posts > Categories
if you are using custom post type "zews" then select from the menu lateral Znews > Add New. And to add categories select: Znews > Categories

a) Thumbnail Image URL - The url of the thumbnail image. Optionally you can use Featured Image (panel on the right side) to resize and crop the image dynamically.
b) Text Button Link - Required. Default: Read More
c) Open Content - Required. Options (On the lightbox, On the page and Custom link).

Multimedia Options
d) Large Image URL - Optional. Paste in this field the url of a large image. If you add a url, a Photo icon will appear in the news.
e) Video URL - Optional. Paste in this field the url of a video (Youtube, Vimeo, MP4, FLV). If you add a url, a Video icon will appear in the news.
f) Audio URL - Optional. Paste in this field the url of a audio (MP3). If you add a url, a Audio icon will appear in the news.

NOTE: Each field has a help information (blue info icon).

4 - Repeat the steps to create more news. Create other categories too if you want.

5 - Create Shortcode / Znews Panel.

Now that we have the news will show them in the browser using shortcodes.
To create a shortcode click Znews > Create Shortcode. Just set your preferences and save. Then copy and paste the shortcode that is generated into a post, page or widget (Text).

Below are options for shortcode:

1 - Use Znews Categories or Default Wordpress Categories(Click on button "Click to update the categories" to change the categories)
2 - Choose the Categories (Shows the categories according to the option chosen above)
3 - Post Type (Shows the post_type according to the option chosen above)
4 - Title Header (The title that goes above on the panel of news)
5 - Amount of News (Total news on the panel)
6 - News per Slide (Each slide can have one or more news)
7 - Znews Width (Any number or 100%)
8 - Show Previous Next (Navigation buttons)
9 - Scroll Speed (Animation speed)
10 - Auto Slide (Starts or not the slide automatically)
11 - Auto Slide Delay (time interval to show each slide)
12 - Show Play Pause (Buttons Play and Pause)
13 - Show Pagination (Buttons Pagination)
14 - Align Pagination (Left, Center ou Right)
15 - Drag Enable (Select false to not enable this function)
16 - Pagination Style (Bullets or Numbers)
17 - Orientation (Vertical or Horizontal. This is the direction of the animation)
18 - Thumbnail Size (Setting for the size of the thumbnails, width and height)
19 - Skin (5 options: gray, blue, green, orange and red)
20 - Add Excerpt (Adds the summary of each post. You can configure the summary within each post)
21 - Date Format (For example: month/day/year). See examples for date formats. Click Here

Even following the step by step, still not working?

Try one of the alternatives below. If nothing solve the problem, please contact me by email through my user profile on CodeCanyon.

1. Within the Wordpress Admin, select the menu option of the plugin called General Settings. In the option Image Resize Script switch to "timthumb". Save the changes and try again.
2. The categories are only available when there is a product within the category. Make sure you have added at least one news in the category.
3. There may be a conflict if your site has many plugins installed. If all the above options have been tried and still does not work, try disabling all plugins (just disable, not delete). Then enable one by one and see which one is conflicting.
